5G Light is based on a hybrid of 3G/4G spectrum standards and 5G New Radio technology. This is not an interesting initiative for Cegeka, as 5G Light doesn’t accommodate mobile private networks.
Proximus deployed 5G New Radio technology in an existing 3G/4G frequency band with minimal spectrum allocated for the 5G radios and a network architecture that doesn’t fully exploit the benefits of 5G. 5G Light is an initiative that takes the first step toward an enhanced mobile broadband offering for consumers. As such 5G light is unable to meet the bandwidth, QoS, and reliability requirements that B2B customers demand of mobile private networks.
