Data Developer - nexuzhealth

Software & Analysis, Data
Professional, Freelancer

For the electronic patient record of nexuzhealth, there are various applications that generate a large flow of data. These applications are used both by the internal care providers (KWS, MOAPR, mobile companion apps, etc.) and referrers (mynexuzhealthpro) as well as the patients (mynexuzhealth). Almost half of Flemish hospitals use these applications in their daily operations. The maintenance of the existing applications and the new developments are done in-house by a large team of developers who use a broad technology stack of Java and Go, SQL and Cloud Spanner, Swing and Angular via fat, mobile and kubernetes environments. Within this development team, the data team specialises in providing insight into the data across the various functional domains. To this end, they develop both general solutions for data extraction and reporting and answers to specific research questions. Due to the ever-increasing demand for further opening up of the data, we want to expand this team considerably in the short term.

  • You develop the extractions that answer daily questions of care providers and researchers. You do this through a good knowledge of SQL server code but also through the further processing of results via Java and/or Go client code.
  • You are involved in setting up general reporting environments and tools in order to provide broad access to the data sources. You do this both with existing on premise solutions such as Sybase ASE and Microsoft SQL Server and with to-be-explored cloud technologies such as Google BigQuery, Data Studio and the associated connectors or 3rd party reporting tools.
  • You help analyse and evaluate the incoming project requests in terms of technical feasibility, functional completeness as well as the corresponding planning and roadmap.
  • You document the technical environment for colleagues and external developers as well as the user manuals.
  • You actively share your knowledge and contribute to the continuous improvement of the functioning of the data team.

What you need to succeed:

  • You have a passion for development and for making data accessible and transparent.
  • You are meticulous and have a sharp eye for detail.
  • You can think along with the end user, anticipate additional questions and test your results against his expectations.
  • Complexity in terms of data models and combinations challenges you.
  • You see software development as a craft and feel like a real "software craftsman" who values code guidelines.
  • You write qualitative, readable code and do refactoring where necessary.
  • You have an excellent knowledge of SQL, Java and OO design, including design patterns.
  • Experience with or knowledge of FHIR, Go and Python are a plus.
  • You have experience with application integration and excellent relational database skills are essential.
  • You can work independently but do not lose sight of knowledge transfer and teamwork.
  • You have a Master's degree in IT, computer science or equivalent through experience.
  • You are fluent in Dutch.

What are we offering:

  • Ownership of your own trajectory coupled with freedom and responsibility
  • Training and talent development
  • Respect for work-life balance
  • Your competencies and interests are attuned to the needs of the company
  • Strong in people management: an experienced people manager will follow you throughout your career
  • An attractive salary package
  • You can enjoy extra-legal benefits: meal vouchers, hospitalisation and group insurance, lump-sum expense allowance and a mobile phone subscription
  • Mobility budget and the choice between electric/hybrid cars
  • Flex reward plan: we give you the opportunity to put together your own salary package
  • Your workplace is UZ Leuven. Working partly from home is certainly possible.
