Cegeka is strengthening its focus on the Defense, Intelligence & Space market by organizing its expertise, capabilities and go-to-market approach around this specific sector. This move enables the company to address the specific needs, regulatory context and long-term dynamics of this sector in a more focused and effective way.

To lead this sector, Cegeka appoints Brandon De Waele as Managing Director Defense, Intelligence & Space. He will lead the global development of this sector, building a strong and scalable approach across Europe and beyond.

Proven Leadership for a Strategic Domain

Brandon De Waele brings extensive experience from high-security government environments. He joins Cegeka from Belgian Secure Communications (BSC), the federal organization for secure communications, which he conceived, built and led from the ground up.

Brandon played a key role in defining and implementing a national vision for secure communications, contributing to the establishment of BSC as an official federal entity. Under his leadership, Belgium strengthened its position in Europe in the domain of secure and sovereign communications.

Earlier in his career, he held operational and intelligence roles within Belgian law enforcement, working in highly sensitive and mission-critical contexts.

A Strategic Move for Cegeka

“Attracting Brandon shows that we are serious about the broader defense and security domain,” said Bart Watteeuw, CEO a.i. of Cegeka. “This includes defense, intelligence, blue light services, critical infrastructure and space. These domains require mission-ready digital solutions that are secure, sovereign and resilient. Brandon brings the leadership and experience to build this capability structurally across countries.”

Cegeka positions itself as a sovereign European technology partner, responding to the growing demand for secure, locally governed digital infrastructure across Belgium and Europe.

Mission-Ready Digital Solutions

Cegeka will focus on delivering mission-ready digital solutions, designed to perform under pressure, ensure operational continuity and support national security and sovereignty.

“I look forward to building this sector within Cegeka,” said Brandon De Waele. “The need for trusted, sovereign and resilient digital capabilities is increasing rapidly.  Together, we have the opportunity to develop a strong international offering that truly supports organizations operating in the most demanding environments.”

Shoulder to Shoulder with Belgian Defense

In Belgium, this initiative is closely aligned with Cegeka’s commitment to support the Belgian reservist framework. Cegeka is taking a first step as Ambassador of the Reservist Corps of the Belgian Armed Forces, enabling employees to contribute to national security while continuing their professional careers.

“Our approach is shoulder to shoulder,” De Waele said. “Defense does not need vendors. It needs partners who understand the extreme pressures, the complex dynamics of governmental institutions, and the absolute necessity to shift smoothly between different operational speeds. Cegeka is committed to be that partner.”
