Filip Blaj, Network Operations Center Technician (NOC)

1. Hi Filip. How did you first hear about Cegeka, and what made you decide to join the company?

I have been always looking for opportunities to turn my career towards the IT area, so my connections on LinkedIn are built towards this area of expertise. As such someone recommended me this company noticing my interest most likely.

I decided to join because of the interview. Both interviewers knew exactly what to ask to make me feel that the company has a genuine interest in hiring ambitious people and giving them the ability to thrive should they wish to and if they put in the work. In a world of cookie-cutter interviews and generic questions, the fact that my now direct supervisor and the recruiter took an active interest in me as an individual on top of my professional experience during the hiring process was impressive.

2. You have several years of experience in customer and technical support. How did this experience help you in your current role at Cegeka?

My previous experience has helped me in several ways. Working in technical support taught me to understand how a product works at its core and develop a structured approach to troubleshooting. This made it easier to quickly analyze issues and identify the right areas to focus on in my current role.

In addition, technical support environments rely heavily on clear documentation and collaboration. I learned early on the importance of keeping detailed notes, so when a case needs to be handed over, colleagues can easily continue from where I left off. This has been especially valuable in ensuring smooth teamwork and efficient problem resolution.

3. What does a typical workday look like for you as a NOC Technician?

My workdays are dynamic and engaging without feeling overwhelming. There is always something happening, which keeps the pace fast and interesting. A big part of my satisfaction comes from knowing that the systems and devices I support are running smoothly thanks to my work, it gives me a strong sense of purpose and accomplishment.

4. Which skills do you use the most in your role, and why are they important for your work?

Organization and the ability to keep track of multiple tasks are essential in my role, along with real-time coordination with other teams. Having a structured approach to daily responsibilities and staying aligned with what other teams are doing helps ensure that issues are addressed efficiently and within the required timeframes.

5. How has your experience at Cegeka Greece been so far? What do you enjoy most about working here?

Job satisfaction is the most important factor for me, and my experience at Cegeka Greece has strongly delivered on that. Knowing that the maintenance work I provide contributes to the bigger picture, and being trusted to perform my role without constant supervision, gives me a level of satisfaction I did not expect. I feel valued, comfortable in my role, and motivated to give my best every day.

6. What have you learned since joining Cegeka, and how would you like to grow in your role in the future?

SInce joining Cegeka, I learned much about how different types of servers work and what they need to work smoothly, I got a peek behind the curtain and that will be of tremendous value in my path to achieve my ideal occupation. My long-term goal, and the job I wanted to do ever since high school, is to write and interact with code directly, as I find that specific area of expertise fulfilling and the ideal job for me. I have a long way to go but I am willing to put in the work to get there eventually.

7. What’s your favorite way to relax and recharge after a busy workday?

I am a creative type; I like writing and creating stories, characters, and worlds out of nothing. My favorite way to relax after work is to play with concepts and themes in writing and work on my own fictional world that maybe someday can be enjoyed by people interested in the type of entertainment I engage in.
