Number of mynexuzhealth users grows to over 1 million unique patients

13 December 2022

Use of the app mynexuzhealth has increased to more than 1 million users since its launch in 2016. As of 1 December 2022, 1,037,468 patients were using the application on their mobile phones or the web application. This makes mynexuzhealth the most widely used patient platform in Belgium. Through mynexuzhealth, patients can access their medical records with a single glance. Patients can access reports, appointments, invoices, images and personal data for free. Through mynexuzhealth, patients can consult their complete medical records from all affiliated healthcare facilities and all eHealth data online.

Nexuzhealth is working on the healthy society of tomorrow by creating advanced technology to improve the quality of care. We develop, implement and manage centralized healthcare platforms for citizens, medical professionals and healthcare teams.

‘With mynexuzhealth app, we want to involve patients in the care process as much as possible: both before, during and after hospitalization or consultation with a doctor. That is why we are constantly striving to improve the digital experience for the patient,’ says Gertie Delande, CEO of nexuzhealth. ‘The success of nexuzhealth is primarily due to hospitals and care professionals informing patients about the possibilities of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) and guidance on how to use the application.’

mynexuzhealth use enhances digital patient experience

Over the past six years, the patient app mynexuzhealth has taken several steps in further digitalising medical data. The digital experience has improved by leaps and bounds. ‘We find that mynexuzhealth is mainly used to manage appointments digitally at healthcare facilities, consult medical records, use prescriptions and consult results of technical examinations (lab results and medical images),’ Gertie Delande clarified.

The main reason for its success?

Today’s patient wants a centralized overview of their medical records and health at any time. And preferably in a user-friendly and efficient way. Even though care pathways are becoming more complex and diseases more chronic and long-lasting. In 2022, patients are more assertive and want to know everything there is to know when it comes to their health. Patients have become stakeholders in their own healthcare journey across different healthcare settings. Thanks to mynexuzhealth, we are able to promote patient engagement and cooperation with their healthcare providers.

‘This takes the form of monitoring or patient empowerment. And it is exactly this monitoring that is often reassuring for many patients. For example, the patient can check whether they have contracted a COVID infection by digitally looking up the result or they can gain a better insight into the results of their blood test. It goes without saying that expert advice remains the task of the medical professionals. It remains important to consult the treating physician for the interpretation of the results,’ Gertie Delande said.

Primary care benefits

Mynexuzhealth not only promotes the patient’s digital maturity. GPs, home nurses and physiotherapists also benefit. Through their version of the application – nexuzhealth pro and nexuzhealth Consult – they get a more complete picture of the patient thanks to the centralization of medical data flows. ‘In this sense, primary care professionals can work more efficiently than before. The government decided a few years ago that it wanted to award premiums to GPs who consciously opt for the digital path. As a result, the network is now sufficiently large to experience the benefits, for both patient and doctor, and the continuity of digital care is beyond doubt,’ concludes Gertie Delande.

About nexuzhealth

Nexuzhealth is the Flemish market leader in creating, implementing and maintaining a centralized electronic patient record (EPR). By offering medical data in a transparent and unambiguous way to hospitals, GPs, home nurses and patients, nexuzhealth wants to contribute to the quality of care with digital solutions.

Today, 38 Flemish hospitals and healthcare institutions are already working with the EPR, nexuzhealth pro. Patients are also finding their way to the mynexuzhealth app, the platform where every patient of an affiliated healthcare facility can access their own records for free. Via nexuzhealth consult, free viewing is also possible for external healthcare providers.

With nexuzhealth consult, external healthcare providers get free access to patient records within the hospital. Similarly, treatment outside the hospital is always based on the fullest possible information. GPs and home nurses who also want to follow up their own patients can do so via nexuzhealth pro.

Nexuzhealth was founded in 2016 by UZ Leuven and European IT company Cegeka, combining both organizations’ years of experience in IT and healthcare with the passion of a scaleup. CEO Gertie Delande is at the helm of the company.
