As a Backup Engineer at Cegeka you play a critical role in safeguarding the integrity and availability of data for both our Cegeka private cloud and customer environments. Your expertise ensures that backup platforms are robust, reliable, and continuously evolving to meet the highest standards of security and operational excellence. By driving innovation, collaborating across international teams, and delivering sustainable solutions, you directly contribute to minimizing risk, maximizing uptime, and supporting the business continuity of our customers.

  • Install, configure and maintain backup and recovery solutions for Cegeka’s private cloud and customer environments, ensuring data integrity and availability across diverse platforms.
  • Monitor and optimize backup performance, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks, failures, or inefficiencies in backup jobs and storage utilization.
  • Provide advanced (3rd line) technical support for backup-related incidents and problems, collaborating with senior engineers to troubleshoot complex issues and restore services promptly.
  • Participate in internal infrastructure projects aimed at increasing platform maturity, scalability, and resilience, including upgrades, migrations, and integration of new technologies.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, instructions, and procedures for backup systems, ensuring all operational knowledge is up to date and accessible for the team.
  • Define and enforce technical standards and best practices for backup and recovery processes, contributing to the development of sustainable solutions that meet customer expectations and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to the automation of manual backup and recovery tasks to improve operational efficiency and reduce human error.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., virtual infrastructure, security, networking) to align backup strategies with broader IT and business objectives.
  • Participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation (every 5 to 6 weeks), providing rapid response and resolution for critical backup incidents outside regular business hours.

What you need to succeed:

  • You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT or equivalent experience.
  • You have strong teamwork skills, take initiative, and can work independently and accurately.
  • You have a customer-focused mindset and strive to find the best solution to incidents and problems.
  • You have proven experience in administering and troubleshooting Windows systems, and you have working knowledge of Linux system operations.
  • You have extensive hands-on experience with the Commvault Backup & Recovery solution and are familiar with its key concepts and terminology.
  • Knowledge of EMC (Legato) Networker, Veeam, NetBackup, or other backup technologies is a plus.
  • You are fluent in English.
  • You are open to working weekends and evenings as part of planned (project) tasks.
