Cegeka becomes long-term IT partner Digital Flanders

25 May 2021

The Flemish government has chosen Cegeka as a long-term, strategic IT partner. Over the next seven years, Cegeka will be responsible for managing the Flemish government’s digital workplaces. Together with DXC, Cegeka has also been selected for the roll-out of application services within the Flemish government over the same period.

"We are very proud that Cegeka, as the largest independent IT services provider in Flanders, will be at the helm of further digitalization of the regional and local administration in the long term. Our ambition, together with the Flemish government, is to ensure Flanders becomes one of the top 5 digital regions in Europe," Stijn Bijnens, CEO of Cegeka, says. This long-term cooperation with the Flemish government is a crucial step in Cegeka's further growth in Flanders.

Long-term partner for digital workplace services

Cegeka has been selected as a partner for the roll-out of digital workplaces at the Flemish government and local administrations. This contract will run for seven years. The primary focus is on the acquisition and continuity of existing services. In addition, one of the main priorities will be the implementation of a transformation plan, with a strong focus on end-user experience and user adoption.

"We aim to provide services to every employee of the Flemish government and local authorities. For this purpose, Cegeka will be using the Microsoft O365 solution supported by a vast network of partners, with a strong focus on sustainability," Stijn Bijnens says.

Cegeka supports digital rollout application services

Working alongside DXC, Cegeka is one of the selected parties for the development and rollout of application services for the Flemish government. 'Our ambition is to become the preferred strategic application partner for the Flemish government. We are looking forward to making a positive contribution to the “Flemish Resilience” recovery plan through the development of new applications,' Stijn continues. Having already developed applications for the Growth Package (VUTG) and the Flemish public employment service (VDAB), Cegeka has plenty of experience as an IT developer for the Flemish government.

Within its partnership with DXC, Cegeka is primarily responsible for ensuring that the existing applications within the Flemish government can continue to function as required. "Cegeka and DXC are covering a wide range of technologies. As part of our ambition to unburden the Flemish government, we are focusing on data platforms and our “cloud first” strategy. For instance, we believe the implementation of 5G, AI, and Solid has great potential and can bring significant added value to Flanders," Stijn Bijnens concludes.

The application services contract will run for seven years.
