Cegeka oversees digital transformation of EUROCONTROL

28 May 2018

EUROCONTROL, the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation, has opted for the technological service provider Cegeka to oversee their digital transformation. The European air traffic organization opts for innovation in technology and processes. For the project, EUROCONTROL and Cegeka agreed to a contract of five years, which can be extended for another two years. For the functional domain Airspace of the programme, Cegeka will work together with Thales, a global technology leader for the Aerospace, Transport, Defence & Security markets.

André Knaepen, CEO of Cegeka: “The long-standing partnership with EUROCONTROL shows that ‘Application Management Services’ has an admirable growth course at Cegeka. ’Application Management Services’ ensures that a company can focus on its core business during a digital transformation. It typically allows the company to decrease costs and increase access to resources.”

Eamonn Brennan, Director-General at EUROCONTROL: : “With air traffic set to grow, EUROCONTROL needs to keep up with the latest technologies so as to deliver the best possible service to the European aviation stakeholders. InnovDATA, comprising Cegeka and Thales, will help us to do just that by providing services in the airspace domain and supporting us with the implementation of new technologies that will generate real business value.”

EUROCONTROL was looking to collaborate with a partner that could help them achieve two digital transformation goals: tech innovation and stakeholder relationship management. Cegeka focuses first and foremost on technology and innovation. The launch of the agile software development methodology will be the first milestone. Innovative technologies like Internet of Things, Machine Learning and Devops are also on the timetable. The agreement gives Cegeka broad permission to create specific, radical innovations on behalf of EUROCONTROL, which will benefit by being able to implement tailor-made solutions.

The second aspect on which EUROCONTROL wishes to focus is the development of a positive relationship with external partners by optimising its interaction with stakeholders and customers. The leading aviation organization is active in more than forty European countries. The organization wants to make its applications more transparent for all stakeholders who are active in those countries. For this part of the project, Cegeka will collaborate with Thales in the consortium Innovdata. Thales is a global technology leader for the Aerospace, Transport, Defence & Security markets.
