To adapt to this ever faster evolving world, Cegeka is transitioning to a platform approach. We call this new approach Cloud & Digital Platforms, which combines our hybrid cloud architecture (Cegeka cloud, public cloud, private cloud) and digital platforms to support a variety of customer use cases.

Goal is to reduce complexity by embracing Platform Engineering principles: simplifying infrastructure management, enhance security through standardization, increase productivity with self-service capabilities, and incorporate automation and observability as fundamental elements of our approach.

Core principles of digital platforms

Our Cloud & Digital Platforms are built following Platform Engineering’s core principles:

• Self-service

We use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) processes to provision and manage our customers’ infrastructure. These processes are accessible through our customer engagement portal Horizon, supplemented by a command-line interface and an API. This self-service model allows customers to manage their infrastructure without depending on our operations teams, which accelerates their development cycles.

• Consistency

Our Cloud & Digital Platforms feature standardized configurations, reusable components and automated deployment pipelines. This results in consistent environments, which minimizes discrepancies, reduces the likelihood of errors, and enhances reliability.

• Observability

Logging, monitoring, traceability, and proactive incident management are all integrated into the platform. Through our customer engagement portal Horizon, we provide complete transparency to our customers about ongoing events and access management. This ensures quick detection of issues and optimal functioning of the platform.

• Compliance

If the customer needs to comply with specific regulations like NIS2 or DORA, we ensure that the stack adheres to the corresponding compliance checks within our control framework.

• Platform as a product

We treat our Cloud & Digital Platforms as a customer-facing product. This means continuous improvement, lifecycle management, and design that is centered around customer journeys rather than technologies. Rather than offering bespoke solutions for each customer, we identify, support, and encourage best practices in the form of a product that provides clear value to all our customers.

• Shared responsibility

With the self-service model offered through Horizon, customers don’t need to ask us to initiate virtual machines or create containers. Together, we share the responsibility for the platform, with well-defined agreements on roles: Cegeka builds and maintains the Digital Platforms as an enabler, while customers are responsible for deploying and operating their services on this platform, benefiting from a paved path.

Workloads are distributed across availability zones, regions, and cloud models. Automated backup and replication, as well as self-healing infrastructure with integrated monitoring and logging, keep critical systems running at all times.

• Sovereign and interoperable

Our cloud architecture always keeps your data within jurisdictions that offer strong legal protections. This is enforced through technical controls that ensure regulatory compliance. We use open standards and common data formats, to support easy migration of your data as sovereignty requirements evolve.

• Using effective abstraction layers

Thanks to our cloud-agnostic platform and middleware, we put an effective abstraction layer between your applications and infrastructure. This ensures that your workloads run consistently across environments, without tying them to specific infrastructure.

• With a bidirectional exit strategy

Our contracts include clear exit terms, data extraction rights, and migration support. By integrating an open source approach, we advise you with an exit strategy from the start, with test plans for moving workloads in both directions between hyperscalers, regional cloud providers, and private infrastructure.

• Capable of repatriation

You always have the ability to fully move key applications and data back to on-premises or private cloud environments. Our hybrid approach avoids dependencies that limit independent operation, while still allowing selective use of public cloud services where beneficial.
