Orange Romania, the leading telecom service provider in the country, serving around 11 million customers, embarked on a journey to enhance its online presence, particularly the e-shop. Recognizing the challenges associated with large-scale digital projects, Orange sought the expertise of Cegeka to streamline the organizational and technical aspects of their initiative.
The primary challenge for Orange was the coordination and setup of teams when initiating a new project, creating overhead and diverting focus from the project's core objectives. Cegeka, in collaboration with Orange, adopted an Agile approach built on trust, continuous feedback, and improvement. We opted for the Team-as-a-Service solution for this project and therefore, a dedicated team was established for the Orange project, comprising technical and soft skills experts. The team structure included squads coordinated by a scrum master, with roles such as Tech Lead, front-end, back-end, QA, and Business Analyst.
The project faced challenges in dealing with the complexity and magnitude of the digitalization effort. Technical difficulties and quality-related challenges arose, necessitating additional testing iterations to overcome obstacles. However, proactive communication and the commitment of the Cegeka team ensured that challenges were addressed, and the project was delivered on time.

Cegeka and Orange hit 95%+ shop availability
The collaboration between Cegeka and Orange resulted in the successful launch of the new online Orange shop solution, a critical application for online orders and marketing targets. The teams faced challenges such as developing new functionalities while adapting/refactoring existing features, migration of some crucial technologies to their latest versions, covering functionalities with unit and integration tests, putting effort into performing stress testing on the system, optimizing performance accordingly and ensuring stability by fine-tuning the overall architecture and taking measures related to deployment and rollback strategies to handle possible disaster scenarios.
Reports now indicate a shop availability of more than 95%, even during high-traffic periods, demonstrating the team's contribution to reliability and stability.
