Founded in 1913, ABC Tools S.p.A. is one of the leading European companies in the distribution and sale of professional tools, now entering its fourth generation.
With a catalog of over 30,000 items, the company stands out not only for its wide range of products but also for the in-house production of solutions such as tool carts and industrial furnishings.
A necessary transformation
To effectively address market changes, an ambitious change management process was initiated, involving a complete overhaul of the company’s strategy.
Simultaneously, focus was placed on renewing the management team, facilitating a generational transition to ensure greater synergy among teams and to strengthen strategic areas.

Solution
To address an outdated and underperforming management system, ABC Tools chose a modern and flexible ERP solution capable of supporting growth and evolving business needs.
In just nine months, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central was implemented — a system designed not only to optimize current processes but also to ensure agility and control over the long term.
Business Central: speed, control, and flexibility
In 2020, with the arrival of Daniele Previato as IT Manager at ABC Tools, Cegeka stepped in to take over the digital transformation process, redesigning a project that had stalled due to overly complex customizations.
Standardizing a 100% customized ERP is a significant challenge: the solution was a strategic shift that went beyond mere software modernization, deeply impacting the company’s operational approach as well.
In just nine months, the new ERP system was implemented, transitioning from NAV to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, ensuring:

To deliver a system as close to standard as possible, Cegeka developed extensions based on Microsoft best practices, allowing updates to be performed without the need to rebuild customizations from scratch.
From Business Central to Power Platform
ABC Tools demonstrated great adaptability, with a cohesive team focused on user needs and committed to problem-solving.
However, Business Central was just the starting point. The real challenge was migrating the entire ecosystem of platforms, applications, and business processes to Microsoft 365, integrating strategic tools to optimize operations.
The second phase of the transformation focused on business performance monitoring.
By implementing Microsoft Power BI, ABC Tools completely transformed its approach to data — enabling real-time access to KPIs, simplifying data interpretation, and extending performance indicators beyond sales to include inventory and purchasing.
As a result, the company gained a strategic tool for faster, more informed decision-making.
Additionally, through a productive collaboration between Cegeka and ABC Tools, a dedicated Power App was co-designed with the IT Manager. Fully low-code and integrated with Business Central, it allows:

Cegeka myPlan 4.0: the replenishment revolution
Another key area was stock replenishment, which was initially managed through a custom engine integrated with NAV.
In line with the goal of standardizing processes, Cegeka proposed adopting Cegeka myPlan 4.0, an Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) solution designed to optimize planning and supply chain management.
Integrated with Business Central, myPlan 4.0 has effectively supported the purchasing team by intelligently generating automated purchase proposals based on sales analysis, lead times, and customized parameters.
After dedicated training sessions with key users, the benefits quickly became evident:

As a result, Cegeka myPlan 4.0 has become a strategic ally for ABC Tools, evolving in step with the ERP system.
Shaping the Future with Power Pages
Data analysis revealed that a significant percentage of orders were still being entered manually, with a notable impact on business efficiency.
ABC Tools has therefore set a goal for 2026: to reduce this percentage by introducing Microsoft Power Pages, aiming to automate workflows more easily and quickly.
