An international player in the automotive sector, active across EMEA, faced the challenge of developing a central application for use by both local entities and partners. However, the ambition went beyond development alone.

Consistent Development and Release Management across Regions and Teams
The organization faced a complex balancing act. On the one hand, the application needed to be broadly deployable across multiple countries and stakeholders. On the other, there was a need for clear structure and governance to ensure quality, security, and consistent release processes.
Cost efficiency was also a key consideration, both in development and maintenance. Another major challenge, however, lay in the future: how do you ensure that a platform not only performs today, but can also be smoothly transferred and managed by internal teams over time?
Standardization & Handover
The approach combined a modern technological foundation with a clear governance and adoption strategy.
A platform was set up with integrated CI/CD pipelines, supported by automated quality and security checks. Self-service components enabled teams to work faster and more independently.
An agile governance model was implemented to ensure that releases were controlled and predictable. Documentation, standards, and transparency formed the foundation of this approach.

Once it became clear that a transition to internal teams was necessary, this objective was pursued in a structured way. Instead of a traditional end-phase handover, a phased knowledge transfer was implemented, with teams working closely together and knowledge being actively built within both internal and offshore teams. Given the extensive scope of features developed within the application over nearly a decade, a longer transition period of approximately two years was deliberately chosen.
Control and Speed
Today, the organization operates a uniform solution used by multiple EMEA entities, with a clear structure in place for further evolution.
New functionalities can be rolled out faster and more consistently, while internal teams maintain full control over both development and operations. Dependency on external parties for day-to-day operations has been significantly reduced.
