As a Backup Automation Engineer at Cegeka, you play a critical role in safeguarding the integrity, availability, and security of data for both our private cloud and customer environments. You combine strong expertise in backup and recovery technologies with a passion for automation, helping to build reliable, scalable, and future-proof services. You will be part of the Data Management Backup team, where you will contribute to both the operational management of our backup platforms and the continuous automation of processes and workflows. By leveraging modern automation techniques, you help increase efficiency, improve service quality, and reduce operational risk. #LI-AP1

  • Backup Recovery:
  • Install, configure, maintain, and optimise enterprise backup and recovery solutions within Cegeka and customer environments.
  • Manage and support our Commvault Backup Recovery platform and related infrastructure.
  • Monitor backup operations and proactively resolve incidents, performance issues, and capacity bottlenecks.
  • Provide advanced 3rd line support for complex backup-related incidents and problems.
  • Contribute to infrastructure projects such as upgrades, migrations, platform enhancements, and technology integrations.
  • Define and maintain standards, best practices, operational procedures, and documentation.
  • Automation Innovation:
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain automation solutions for the Shared Backup environment.
  • Develop scripts, workflows, and integrations using Python, PowerShell, REST APIs, and infrastructure automation tools.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks using technologies such as Git, Jenkins, Poetry and Sentry.
  • Drive the automation of recurring operational tasks, reducing manual work and increasing reliability.
  • Manage and prioritize automation feature requests, enhancements, and defect resolutions.
  • Ensure automation solutions meet security, compliance, and governance requirements. Collaboration
  • Work closely with backup engineers, infrastructure teams, security specialists, and developers to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and platform modernization.
  • Participate in the 24/7 on-call rotation to support the continuity of the Commvault Backup Recovery platform.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, or equivalent experience. Strong experience in infrastructure management and enterprise backup solutions.
  • Proven experience with Commvault Backup Recovery. Strong knowledge of Python development and automation.
  • Experience with Powershell scripting.
  • Experience with Git and version control practices.
  • Experience with Ansible or similar automation technologies.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server administration and basic to intermediate Linux administration skills.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
  • Ability to work independently while functioning effectively within an international team.
  • Nice to have
  • Experience with Jenkins and/or GitLab CI/CD.
  • Commvault Workflow development experience.
  • Knowledge of Splunk or similar observability platforms.
  • Experience with Veeam, NetBackup, Networker, or additional backup technologies.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Kanban methodologies.
  • Knowledge of security automation and compliance frameworks.
