In a nutshell, you will be responsible for managing all the people management aspects of a Software Business Unit, ensuring the implementation of a large variety of HR-related processes and best practices, while also promoting communication, well-being and high performance.  

  • In tandem with the functional manager, you manage different teams of software developers to ensure productivity, engagement, career growth and retention.
  • You implement important HR processes (onboarding, coaching, evaluations, internal mobility, promotions, succession planning …) and contribute to optimizing these processes based on your understanding of the specific business needs in Romania
  • You liaise with program managers to understand their business and resulting resource and people needs and you take pro-active action, adequately balancing business priorities and goals and individual people needs.
  • Based on longer term business plans, you ensure projects are adequately staffed on time and you play a key role in the  selection of new hires, not only paying attention to technical skill set but also taking cultural and team fit into account.
  • From frequent one-to-ones you get a clear view on people’s potential, career ambitions and development needs.  You draw up performant development plans and organize relevant and timely learning opportunities (on the job coaching, classroom training, e-learning, mentoring …) while also managing the learning and development budgets.
  • You communicate important decisions to your teams and work to achieve buy-in and commitment to strategic objectives and major changes. You understand possible reasons of resistance and know how to overcome these.
  • You provide a motivating and safe working environment where open communication and honest feedback are the norm.
  • You take necessary action to solve a variety of people problems and remove barriers so that people can comfortably focus on the core of their tasks.
  • You act as a main driver for change, promoting a flexible mindset and ensuring full openness and commitment towards changes occurring as related to company’s global or local strategy.
  • Job’s buzz words, later translating as main KPIs: Attrition, Engagement, Staffing, Promotions and Growth, as well as L&D and Rotation Plans.

What you need to succeed:

  • Preferably 10+ years of overall experience.
  • You have a track record (preferably 5+ years of experience) within successful people management roles, ideally in fast paced and dynamic business environments.
  • You have strong communication skills and know how to deal with a variety stakeholders.
  • You have great listening skills, and based on your empathic talents you also understand the “unspoken” needs and aspirations of others.
  • You understand team dynamics and have experience interfering in  potential team conflicts, facilitating others towards solutions.
  • You are able to set the right priorities based on a proper analysis of business and people needs and show a results driven , dynamic no-nonsense approach displaying the right sense of urgency.
  • Experience in an IT environment is an asset.
  • Combined experience as an HR and Business (Operations) Manager would be an asset.
