May 17th is World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, this year being dedicated to strengthening digital lifelines that keep the world connected. So, what better occasion to meet the people behind the tech?
In this article, you’ll meet six of our colleagues from different functions, all equally important in keeping Cegeka going. We’ve asked each of them what our value “We enjoy what we do” means to them and how they draw inspiration from their hobbies in their day-to-day jobs.

For me, “We enjoy what we do” means finding real satisfaction in keeping things running smoothly for others. In my role as an Application Administrator, this comes from solving issues that block people from their day to day work and making sure our applications are reliable and trustworthy.
I enjoy the feeling of progress when a problem is understood and fixed, especially when it involves connecting the dots between users, systems, and technical teams. Even when the work is complex or time sensitive, I appreciate the challenge and the opportunity to improve processes or prevent issues from happening again.
Enjoying what I do also means continuously learning, taking ownership to ensure quality and clarity in everything I deliver because I know my work directly supports colleagues across the organization.
One of my favorite hobbies is photography, as I enjoy capturing moments and details that might otherwise be overlooked. Photography has shaped the way I think and work. It trains me to look closely, understand context, and be patient before drawing conclusions which is very similar to how I approach problem solving in my role. Before taking a picture, you need to understand the full scene; similarly, before fixing an issue, I need to understand how the application and its processes work end to end.
This hobby reflects the skills I rely on in my work: attention to detail, a structured approach to analyzing situations, and the ability to step back and see the bigger picture, all of which I apply daily as an Application Administrator.

Enjoying what we do is not only having fun amongst each other as colleagues - although not a day goes by without some ill-timed jokes to get people laughing ;-). Enjoyment also comes from the environment that is created by our people.
The people I work with and the way we work together: celebrate a win, stick together through the tougher times whilst trying to maintain a positive outlook is very much linked to "We enjoy what we do".
As for my hobbies, I have several; I can be found in a gym 3 to 4 days per week, traveling is something I love to do, as well as cooking. However, I think the "favorite" has to be building Lego sets.
Building teams is much like building Lego. It requires patience, analysis, it's about making sure every piece sits perfectly there to fit the "bigger picture". It's like putting together a 10.000 piece Lego set while the display table is moving at 100km/h. Success doesn't come from putting the pieces together; it's about making sure the baseplate is indestructible, modules perfectly fit and nobody forgets that one single missing brick can bring the whole structure down.
I'm very lucky to have some great looking Lego sets, as well as awesome teams. 😎

For me, both running and work are connected by the same idea: “We enjoy what we do” means finding meaning in the process, not only in the result. Cegeka gave me the space to genuinely enjoy what I do while continuously learning, growing and taking ownership of my work. Even though challenges are a natural part of any process and of any job, the mindset here encourages people to take initiative and build meaningful things together. This mindset connects a lot with my favorite hobby: long-distance running and mountain ultramarathons. At first, it started as a fun way to spend time and see places. Nevertheless, over time I realized how much work, discipline and especially mental preparation are needed for these races.
Ultramarathons are very similar to work and everyday life because they constantly push you to adapt and continue. One important thing that I learnt is that all races have a clear start, but not all of them have the same finish line. Some end with a “Did Not Finish” but many times those are the experiences from which you learn the most about yourself.
Running taught me that reality stays the same whether we like it or not, and that also applies to work. The mountain, the rain, the wind or the distance will always be there, but since we decided to be there, it’s up to us how we approach them. If we choose to be there, then we also need to accept the reality of the situation and decide how we manage it.
Another important lesson is that even if running is considered an individual sport, long distances are always better together. I run all races with my partner, and we support each other when one of us is down. I believe work is very similar because the best results come when people move forward together. For me, this is one of the most important lessons both in running and in work. You cannot control everything around you, but you can control your attitude, your preparation and the effort you are willing to invest. In the end, before looking for reasons outside of us, we should first be honest enough to ask ourselves if we truly did everything we could with what we had at that moment.

Since I joined Cegeka, I’ve experienced a welcoming environment where colleagues openly share knowledge and provide strong support during onboarding. This created a positive first impression and helped me quickly feel part of the team. For me, “We enjoy what we do” means bringing genuine enthusiasm into my work and transmitting that positive energy to the team. When you enjoy your job, you naturally contribute to a motivating atmosphere, strengthen collaboration, and help the team achieve its goals. This mindset also drives me to go beyond my limits, contribute where needed, and act as a true team player. I’m open to new challenges because Cegeka provides the right tools and support – I just need to bring commitment, curiosity, and motivation.
I believe this value goes beyond daily tasks. Although I’m not a really open person, I participated in this interview thanks to the positive and engaging attitude of the HR team. Their enthusiasm, encouragement, and ability to create a relaxed environment made the experience enjoyable and meaningful. I’ll never forget the heroic effort to make me smile during the photo session – thank you, Andreea!
Since I was born and raised in a town close to the sea, swimming has always been a natural part of my life and a source of simple happiness. The sun, the sand, and the sea create an environment where I feel connected and balanced. Swimming is like meditation: it allows me to clear my mind of unnecessary thoughts and focus on what truly matters. I see several parallels between swimming and my professional skills. Regulating my breathing in the water reflects the importance of maintaining control and consistency while managing tasks. Maintaining balance while floating is like setting the right priorities, while being aware of my surroundings reminds me to look beyond routine and discover new opportunities to learn and grow. Swimming has helped me develop focus, discipline, and clarity, qualities that I apply in my problem-solving approach and in my day-to-day work. And just like in the water, one important principle always applies: never give up.

When I think of our value “We enjoy what we do”, two key aspects come to mind. First, the passion, dedication, and sense of ownership invested in every action, event, milestone, and task we accomplish at work. Second, the people around us who create an environment where this involvement is not only encouraged but continues to grow day by day.
I strongly believe that the people we work with have the greatest influence on how we perceive our work and our workplace experience. That is why I truly appreciate the supportive and positive atmosphere at Cegeka, where every interaction has felt welcoming, genuine, and motivating.
My favorite hobby is building LEGO sets. What I enjoy most about it is the combination of creativity, patience, and attention to detail that every build requires. Beyond being a way to relax and disconnect, it also reflects many of the same principles I apply in my work as a software engineer.
Building LEGO has shaped my mindset by teaching me to approach challenges step by step, to stay focused on the bigger picture while still paying attention to small details, and to enjoy the process of creating something meaningful from many individual pieces. It has also strengthened skills such as problem-solving, logical thinking, and perseverance – all of which are essential in software development.
In many ways, both LEGO building and software engineering share the same satisfaction: turning ideas into something functional, well-structured, and rewarding through creativity and continuous learning.

Personally, “We enjoy what we do” is all about the human side of work. In recruitment, every conversation is different, and that’s what I enjoy most. I get to meet people with different experiences, personalities, and career paths, and I love creating real connections along the way. Finding the right fit is important, but so is making sure every candidate feels welcomed, respected, and has a genuinely positive experience from start to finish.
I’ve always been playful and curious by nature, so I tend to pick up a lot of hobbies and try new things. But gaming is probably the one that shaped me the most. It started as a way to relax and escape a little, but over time it taught me a lot about multitasking, prioritizing, patience, grinding, and communicating with people from all over the world. Looking back, many of those skills ended up helping me a lot in my career, too.
