Backup Support Engineer

As a member of the Backup team, you will take part in helping our Customers surpass critical situations, through the usage of various data protection solutions and services that address the full spectrum of file and system recovery. In this endeavor, you will collaborate with team members from other countries of the group but also with 3rd parties and vendors who all adhere to the same objective: helping Customers in their day-to-day activities. 

  • Ownership and responsibility for all tickets assigned to your queue
  • Checking and configuring backup jobs to safeguard our customer’s data
  • Executing restore data tickets
  • Maintenance of operational data management systems
  • Depending on your technical level, you may also be involved in the creation and modification of technical procedures, manuals, processes for supporting projects, as well as in the creation of change and maintenance requests prior to implementations. 
  • Share knowledge with other team members.

What you need to succeed:

  • 2+ years experience in a technical position (e.g. support engineering role)
  • Knowledge of Windows server systems and correlated technical solutions (AD, DNS, DHCP)
  • Basic knowledge of the following technical areas is of usage for performing your daily tasks: Linux/Unix environments, networking (TCP/IP & communication: LAN/WAN/VPN), database enterprise applications (MSSQL, Oracle)
  • You will operate in an OLA and SLAs driven environment so accuracy and a sense of urgency are part of the day-to-day job.
  • You have a continuous learning mindset - you are eager to learn and to constantly develop your skills and knowledge
  • Continuous improvement is like second nature to you – you feel comfortable in exploring proposals that can be implemented in the day-to-day activity of the team
  • Excellent English skills, both written and verbal 
  • Knowledge of Backup/Storage architectures is nice to have
  • Knowledge of backup product solutions, such as Commvault or EMC Networker is nice to have.
  • The working schedule is from Monday to Friday, with an 8-hour shift, usually between 08:00 or 09:00 AM and 16:30 or 17:30 PM EET (flexible working hours).
  • During the weekend only one engineer is on shift, the engineer who covers all daily checks on a shift from 08:00 AM EET to 16:30 PM EET. Although weekend work is also involved, when performing such shifts, depending on your preference 2 days free will be given (e.g. 1 free day before and 1 free day after the weekend).
