Data Architect - Flanders Digital

Software & Analysis
Professional, Freelancer

Cegeka continues to grow! Within our Applications software department, we have set up a new division for an exciting long-term project with the Flemish Government. Cegeka's Flanders Digital wants to ensure, in partnership with the Flemish Government, that Flanders grows into the European top 5 most digitised regions. Cegeka is the Flemish Government's strategic IT partner in this matter.  In this way, we are putting our shoulders to the further digitalisation of Flanders in terms of digital workplaces and building applications that have an impact on 6.6 million Flemish people, like you and me. Think, for example, of  ‘het Groeipakket’, through which 960,000 Flemish families automatically receive the correct allowances and benefits. Or ‘het Vlaams Handhavingsplatform’ for the ‘Agentschap Justitie en Handhaving’, centralising all information on administrative enforcement from the various inspection services in Flanders. With Persona, ‘Agentschap voor Onderwijs’ is taking a new application into use to manage personnel data.  In addition, we have numerous other projects. For these projects, we are always looking for people with, to put it in Flemish, ‘goesting’!  Do you want to help build a digital Flanders? Then you might be our new Data Architect. Here is what the job contains:

  • In your role as Data Architect, you will be the team's technical mentor.
  • You lead the execution of the Data intelligence Analysis and afterwards, when building the platform, coach the Data Engineers in applying the agreed engineering practices, technical design and architecture.
  • You also ensure that all blocking technical issues are resolved as quickly as possible.
  • You can start a conversation with both technical people and people from the business.
  • You are structured and analytical, can easily make abstractions and have a problem-solving mind.
  • Innovation and knowledge sharing is high on our agenda. We are always looking for innovation and improvement. You will get plenty of opportunities to actively participate in this.

What you need to succeed:

  • You work in permanent employment or as a freelancer.
  • You are an experienced Data Architect and have at least five years of experience in the application development field.
  • You have a good knowledge of Microsoft Azure Data Services (Data Lakehouse, Data Factory, Databricks, SQL, etc.).
  • You have (or wish to have) a Microsoft Certified Professional certificate.
  • You are an expert in Power BI and Onprem data warehouse.
  • You have knowledge of DevOps.
  • Through your coaching style, you know how to lift other project members to a higher level.
  • You adopt a constructive and pragmatic approach to solving problems and are result-oriented.
  • You have a flexible, independent and collegial attitude.
  • Good communication skills, customer focus and accuracy are characteristics that characterise you.
  • Good command of the Dutch and English languages.
  • Onboarding Training Package: Curiosity and a good attitude are some of your most important qualities. We will gladly look together at your current level of experience and skills and develop a personal development plan with you to boost your career.

What are we offering:

  • You will join a Top Employer!
  • A competitive salary completed with fringe benefits. An (electrical) company car with fuel card/charging card or mobility budget, luncheon vouchers, eco vouchers, interesting group and hospitalisation insurance, a mobile phone subscription,  flat-rate expense allowances, a powerful laptop and the opportunity to give your salary package a personal touch thanks to our Flex Reward Plan.
  • Flexible working hours and a nice work/life balance.
  • A top team: in which new fresh ideas and initiatives are always welcome! Team events, monthly happy hours and an always legendary company party are also part of this.
  • Tailormade guidance: throughout your career, you will be guided by our people managers. So you have a point of contact, a personal coach and a sparring partner.
  • Continuous learning: through innovation centres, reading groups, knowledge sharing meetings, hackathons, participation in conferences and external training courses, we focus on knowledge sharing and learning.
  • Opportunity to grow: depending on your own interests and initiatives, Cegeka offers various horizontal and vertical career paths.
  • Hybrid working: you work from a Cegeka office in your area (Hasselt, Leuven, Antwerp, Ghent), but also from the agencies of the Flemish Government (Ghent or Brussels within walking distance of the station), combined with working from home.
  • Want to get in as a freelancer? No problem! Then we offer you a competitive daily rate and numerous benefits.
