To strengthen our existing software development teams at Fluvius, a leading player in the energy sector, we are looking for an experienced Data Engineer with a passion for event streaming and Confluent Kafka. You will contribute to socially impactful applications and help build the energy infrastructure of tomorrow, while delivering high-quality and future-oriented solutions together with an experienced agile team. As a Kafka Streams Data Engineer, you will collaborate with a Java Developer, a Functional Analyst, and a Business Analyst on the development of a new solution for assembling snapshots with accurate asset information derived from various Kafka topics.

  • You develop and maintain real-time data streams using Kafka Streams
  • You integrate data from multiple Kafka topics into consistent and reliable snapshots
  • You collaborate with the Java Developer to build performant and scalable solutions
  • You coordinate with the Functional and Business Analyst to align technical implementations with business requirements
  • You implement monitoring, logging, and error handling within the data streams
  • You ensure data quality, validation, and accurate timestamping of asset information

What you need to succeed:

  • You have solid knowledge of Apache Kafka and Kafka Streams
  • You have experience working with Java in a data engineering context
  • You’re familiar with event-driven architectures and stream processing patterns
  • You understand data integrity, schema evolution (e.g. Avro/Protobuf), and fault tolerance
  • You’ve worked with CI/CD and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) – a definite plus
  • You have experience with Microsoft Azure, especially Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure Container Apps (ACA) – another plus
  • You’ve used Confluent Kafka – bonus points
  • You’re a team player with strong communication skills
  • You proactively detect and resolve issues
  • You can confidently explain and defend technical decisions to functional stakeholders
  • You speak Dutch fluently
